It has easily won the generation and will outsell the ps2. Only the winner of a generation has ever lasted long into the next gen.

from what I have seen so far. HOWEVER I am open minded enough to realise that some people will really like and it does have some cool new features. However waiting in line to play isn't my idea of advancement in technology and it is abit bare at the moment. SOny will obviously make things better and I want to see what they'll do but for now I am not going to bother with it.

Cumulative production - is the cumulative amount of ps3's that have been produced! Not sold to retailers! Pretty obvious I think.

the problem with your figures is that your not understanding sony's financials. Vgchartz report sold to consumers (yes they may be wrong but thats what they try to do) whereas sony in their finncials report sold to retailers.Its a common mistake on this site but when the big 3 say sold it means sold to retailers as its the retailers who buy them and pay the money. I don't know where most of you are getting these made up figures at all. XBOX is at 25 million NOW and will be pushing 28 million by the end of the year. The only bit where I think your wrong is the ps2 sales. They are not at 140 million that was just a pr guy bragging (lying) without figures. 130 million is the latest estimate that sony put on their financial reports.

There are other ways to enhance an experience from generation to generation and just because you prefer prettier graphics (which i'm not arguing against) doesn't mean the wii is a gimmick. As you can see from teh sales there are many happy people out there that enjoy the system. Nintendo won this generation but that doesn't mean that people can't prefer other consoles. despite the usual spin that you see on this site in the real world the ps3 is really on the backfoot. If the price can't be dropped soon they don't have a hope of coming out of 3rd place.
